Queer Bodies, Queering Desire: Authentically Reclaiming Our Sexualities!

You and your Queer Body are invited to a potent two-day embodied somatic practice playshop where we will move, share, and breathe fire into our unique sexualities, all through the vibrant lenses of queerness, transness, and neuroemergence*.  All who identify as Queer/LGBTQ+ and feel called to attend are invited to register.

Queerness is both who we are and who we are becoming: it is both an identity and a continual process of active resistance, (re)claiming, and creation.  Our bodies are Queer; our sexualities are Queer: Queering Desire is an act of working to set ourselves free from the restraints of cisheteropatriarchal white supremacy culture** and allowing ourselves the freedom and liberation to imagine and create our juicy erotic futures.  We will practice this slowly with plenty of time for rest and pleasure.

We'll weave together movement, breath, and playful sensuality, shedding layers of restriction that inhibit our desires and planting seeds to fully embody our Queer Erotic Selves. We'll have opportunities to laugh, sweat, and cry as we reclaim our rightful place as architects of our own sexual ecstasy and erotic natures.

Day One of our weekend together will be dedicated to building group resonance through grounding and creating embodied art together, exploring our queer erotic bodies with breath and movement, and sharing the stories of our bodies and genitals.

Day Two will focus on exploring consent and desire–or how we understand what we want and don’t want from a place of embodied knowing–utilizing movement for personal liberation and pleasure, and engaging in mindful erotic embodiment practice–a communal self-pleasure experience. We will use the technologies of the Wheel of Consent*** to expand our capacities for both giving and receiving and asking for what we truly desire.

Facilitator Bios

Mischa H. Gilraen (she/her/ze/zer) is an ordained High Priestess and Hierophant (revealer of mysteries) and creates and facilitates experiences at the intersection of erotic joy, somatic empowerment, and spiritual connection for queer and trans bodies and communities.  She is a queer polyam kinky white trans-femme Priestess of Aphrodite, who draws from decades of experience in queer, kink, and sex-positive culture, and loves being in and creating spaces that center neurodiversity, queerness, and transness.  Mischa supports queer, trans, and LGBTQ+ edgewalkers, those who experience life at the margins or edges of social culture or are part of multiple cultures, in centering their own sexual sovereignty and sexual autonomy through learning how to communicate and center their authentic wants and desires.  Mischa has trained with Betty Martin, the creator of the Wheel of Consent, and integrates the Wheel into her somatic empowerment work. She has also trained with the Institute for the Study of Somatic Sex Education and the TOAD: Temple of Awakening Divinity and is a certified and ordained Officiant within the TOAD.

Tai Fenix Roishyn, MA, CSB (they/them) is a fat white trans neuro/gender/queer witch, kinky polyamorous relationship anarchist, and pleasure activist. For nearly two decades, they have been dedicated to exploring somatics, erotics, astrology, queerness, and ritual, and the intersections thereof. Through client sessions and group facilitation, they share and support the praxis of tending to our relationships, befriending our bodies and emotions, cultivating authentic self-understanding, slowing down to access pleasure, and remembering that we are all nature embodied. They offer astrology readings, somatic erotic guidance sessions, psychedelic stewardship, and magical jewelry with the intention of supporting and creating space for ritual transformation, relational trauma healing, and personal and cultural liberation. Tai is an initiated priestex and adept, alchemist, and somatic ritualist whose life and craft is devoted to love and the erotic dance of relationships between Self/soul-spirit-body, human and non-human others, the land, and the cosmos. They also had the honor of co-editing the anthology Queer Magic: Power Beyond Boundaries, which included their own piece on the Phoenix as guide and symbol for queer erotic alchemical transformation. Contribution

The full cost of producing this 2-day playshop is $600 per participant and we are asking those with the means to comfortably meet your basic needs to contribute $600.  However, we value financial accessibility and offer sliding scale rates of $400 (for those with means to generally meet basic needs but still stress about finances) and $200 (for those whose means are unable to meet basic needs) and there are codes on the registration page to access these sliding scale rates.  We also offer payment plans for those who need them with a required $50 initial deposit. We are committed to financial accessibility, so if you can’t afford our sliding scale and you still want to come, please reach out and we’ll discuss what accommodations are possible. Accessibility Info

This playshop will be held on the ground floor of a private residence that has 3 stairs and a small lip at the entryway.  We will do our best to accommodate any accessibility needs that may be needed for the comfort and ability of our attendees. You are welcome to reach out prior to registering if you would like to check if we are able to accommodate your needs, and there is a space to share any accessibility requests upon registration.

Logistics

We will gather on Saturday, October 26th from 9am-8pm and Sunday, October 27th from 9am-7pm.

The location of the playshop is in Olympia, WA (the unceded territories of the Squaxin, Skokomish, and Nisqually peoples) near the Downtown area and you will receive the exact location upon registration.

We have some limited accommodations available at the venue, with 1 private room available at the rate of $100 and 2 bunk beds available at the rate of $50 (this covers Fri evening through Monday morning), please let us know on your registration form if you would like onsite accommodations: we will follow up to confirm.

We are offering catering for lunch and dinner both Saturday and Sunday.

* NeuroEmergence is a new term that was coined by Marta Rose and brings the concept of Emergent Strategy by adrienne maree brown into our communities.  We love the imagery of the emergence of our magickal brains as we celebrate our diversity!

** The facilitators, Mischa and Tai, are both neuroemergent white trans queers who are deeply dedicated to anti-racism and anti-oppression.  We also realize our position of white privilege and therefore our limitations as white folx talking about moving away from white supremacy culture.  We are committed to both working towards an anti-oppressive, justice-focused world and recognize that we may unconsciously perpetuate harm.  We commit to being approachable and accountable for our actions, both during this event and ongoingly.

*** This playshop is influenced and inspired by the Wheel of Consent® as developed by Dr. Betty Martin. Mischa & Tai have trained with both Dr. Betty Martin and the School of Consent, though this event is unaffiliated with either.
